Supporting our clients to live an amazing and fulfilling life
The people we support are some of ACC’s most complex, high needs clients. Our passion is to support seriously injured individuals to live at home, in the community despite their challenges. Our goal is to support them to live an amazing and fulfilling life.
Acquired injury causes intense grief and trauma that can be devastating and incapacitating. To move forward with confidence and intent healing on all levels is essential. As a team we try to support families to traverse this pathway to wellbeing. The way we do this is through our practise model – Ngākau Purotu and the Whānau Ora plans we develop with our clients and their families which are driven by their aspirational goals.
Although the injuries of our clients are unique and complex in their own way, there is also a commonality and that is the amazing support and encouragement we see from families and friends. It is this strength that we draw on to be courageous and to forge new pathways ahead.
Prior to Peter’s accident he was an elite athlete competing internationally in boxing and outrigger canoeing. To help Peter achieve his goals we developed a programme that incorporated the activities he was passionate about prior to his accident. As a result, he has continued to be involved in waka ama, he has travelled back to Samoa where he was brought up and most importantly, he has continued to be an amazing father to his children. This is the same philosophy we apply to the development of our client programmes.
All our clients are equally as inspirational and motivated as Peter. They are supported by fantastic teams made up of family, friends, Kaiāwhina and an extended What Ever it Takes crew.
Presently we have clients in Northland, Auckland, Hawkes Bay, Bay of Plenty, Whanganui and Wellington. We deliver programmes through our contracts that support homebased care, clinical and rehabilitation programmes and community connectedness. We have an amazing cross section of Whānau we support and the application of Ngākau Purotu and the emphasis on family wellbeing is what we endeavour to achieve with and alongside them.
He Maimai Aroha - An Expression of Affection
Tina te tukutuku o te rangi
Tina te aweawe o te rangi
Tina tāmore i Hawaiiki e Io matua e
Ka mihi atu ki te kura whenua, ka tangi atu ki te kura tangata
E aronui ana mātou ki te tini o ngā whānau me ō koutou whanaunga
kua huri ki te tua o te ārai, e kore anō ō koutou reo e rongohia
Kei konei tātou e mahue mai nei me ō tātou ngākau mokemoke, e taea hoki te pēhea
Ki ngā whānau noho pani nei, kia māia, kia manawanui
Mā te Runga Rawa tātou e arataki ki tō tātou apōpō, huri noa, huri noa,
Mā te wairua e tautoko te wairua. Kia ora huihui mai tātou katoa.
May the heavens remain settled
May they remain distant
May the Creator ensure that we remain anchored to Hawaiiki.
We acknowledge the value of the land and mourn that of people
We recognise the many whānau who have lost loved ones,
they who have gone beyond the veil,
their voices never to be heard again
We are here left behind, lonely, unsure what to do
To the bereaved families, be strong, be resilient
May the Creator guide us into our tomorrow,
May we support one another. Greetings to all.
